The On-the-Job training program is a federal program that reimburses employers for training new employees, or existing employees who are moving to a different position within your business and will need additional training to do the job.
The UPS Store in Las Cruces participated in New Mexico Workforce Connection's On-the-Job Training program. In 2020, The UPS Store wanted to promote some employees and hire new employees to fill the newly vacant positions. With 10 employees needing in-house training, the On-the-Job-Training program reimbursed The UPS Store for a portion of each employee's wages saving them $118,479.60 over 9 months.
Participating in the program started a domino effect. The savings allowed The UPS Store to offer higher wages to their employees. Management saw happier employees, fewer staff turnaround, increased business, and happy customers.
