Virtual Town Hall End of CARES Act Unemployment Programs
(Albuquerque, NM) – All unemployment compensation programs created by the CARES Act are scheduled to expire on December 26, 2020, without further congressional action. Programs that will be affected by this expiration are Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) and Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC). The last payable week for PUA and PEUC benefits will be the week ending December 26 regardless of an existing dollar balance or remaining eligible weeks. This Wednesday the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions will host a virtual town hall in regards to the scheduled end of benefits. Secretary McCamley along with subject matter experts will be on hand to provide further details on what claimants can expect, answer questions, and provide information on available resources and services from other agencies.
